NLC Seeking Manager - AMS Services

The National League of Cities is seeking to fill a new role of Manager - AMS Services.  Come join our team at an exciting time at NLC as we prepare to launch our new netFORUM and MemberFuse environment.

The Manager, AMS Services will serve as a database administrator, netFORUM project manager, leading the initiatives from a development perspective and ongoing maintenance and extension of the netFORUM AMS.  The manager will be the central organizational contact for all netFORUM platform related services and projects, including web modules, data imports/exports, reports and queries, system settings, staff management and training.  The scope of work ranges from tactical to strategic.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and coordinates activities netFORUM projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters
  • Ensures that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives
  • Monitors project activities, ensuring the currency, quality, and integrity of the information, while providing consistency in content and "look and feel" across the enterprise
  • Manages the organizational standard for how data is entered, imported, exported and stored in AMS.
  • Standardize all fields, and work with all departments to coordinate implementation of standardization
  • Maintain documentation on data standards for all departments
  • Primary owner for controlling privileges and permissions to all database users
  • Coordinate with all departments for any import/export needs of AMS
  • Coordinate with all departments on testing and management of test transactions
  • Work with finance on all data customization and finance reporting needs
  • Coordinate with all external parties for any import/export needs of AMS
  • Serves as internal expert on AMS system, including customization, reports, user setup, administration, coordination and setup of workflow
  • Assists with planning training classes on basics of AMS, and become trainer of AMS systems
  • Serves as primary technical liaison with AMS Vendor

Technical Skills

  • Ability to write/run basic SQL queries
  • Current knowledge of mainstream server applications and operating systems and database systems
  • Skills required include SQL Server 2005/2008, T-SQL, Windows 2008 Server
  • Must be proficient in MRS, Microsoft Access, and mainstream office applications
  • Knowledge of netFORUM a plus 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with AMS systems
  • Experience implementing and upgrading database systems
